Traffic doors allow for outside access and as a result need to be highly secure. Traffic Doors are fitted with the latest high security multipoint locking as standard.
The locking mechanism is operated by a Lever-lever handle and has a total of six locking points. Two deep throw hook locks, lock into the outerframe, so even if the intermediate shoot bolts are not engaged the doors cannot be pulled open. There is also a standard latch, dead bolt, and two fitter friendly adjustable roller cams at the top and bottom of the doors that pull the doors in tight and provide excellent weathering.
Double traffic doors have a master and a slave door. The master door has the locking described above and locks into keeps situated on the slave door. While the slave door has additional shoot bolt locking top and bottom, which are operated by a lockable Pendulum Handle. Please note traffic doors with Pendulum handles, operate the same shootbolt lock.
The weakest point of a locking system is more often than not the locking cylinder. The locking cylinder that we use on these doors are no standard euro cylinders. They are pick resistant, bump resistant, drill resistant and include a sacrificial break slot to help the cylinder remain more secure in the event of being snapped.
We use these high security superior locking cylinders, as standard.
Despite the fact that the intermediate handles are generally to the inside only, all of these handles have a key locking facility as standard. This is just so you can simply lock the handle on the inside, as you would your windows, for added peace of mind. This is especially useful on bifold door styles without a traffic door, or outside access. The key on all intermediate handle cylinders can be keyed-a-like so that you only need one key to operate every intermediate handle, on each of your bifold doors. However since the traffic doors and outside access doors use a superior locking cylinder you will always have a separate key for these doors.
Heavy duty shoot bolts secure the door at the top and bottom of each intermediate panel. Each set of shoot bolts is operated by rotating the Flush-line handle 360°. They are specially designed to provide a tight fit giving maximum compression for increased weather performance and have a tapered head for smooth easy engagement when securing the panels into the outerframe. They firmly secure the doors in place, to create a solid barrier to protect against forced entry.
The bogie wheel assemblies have a dedicated guide that runs inside the channel of the outerframe, at the top and bottom of the doors. This guide not only gives the doors additional strength and stability, but also provide anti-jemmy security, preventing the folding panels from being forced or levered off the track.
This guide has been cleverly designed to protect you against forced entry and help to keep the doors stable and running smoothly.
These Bifold doors are internally glazed using a high security glazing bead and wedge gasket. This provides both added security and ease of installation. Since the sealed units are put in from the inside they can only be removed from within the property.
The glass in all of our aluminium doors is toughened safety glass as standard, which is much harder to break than standard float glass. You can however further increase the security of these doors by upgrading to our laminated security glass.
